Liturgy, the work of the people, requires participation of clergy and the laity. Laypersons assist by preparing the church for services, serving as acolytes, reading lessons, leading prayers, and assisting with the serving of Holy Communion.
We celebrate Holy Eucharist, also called “Holy Communion”, “the Lord’s Supper”, or “the Mass” on Sunday mornings and on feast days such as Christmas. Daily Morning Prayer led by laypersons is a Tuesday tradition at St. Paul’s.
The 1979 Book of Common Prayer provides the structure for most of our services with occasional use of other resources such as Enriching Our Worship. Hymns from the 1982 Hymnal or Wonder, Love and Praise fill our church at the 10am service. We use the New Revised Standard Version of the Bible, and our readings follow the Revised Common Lectionary and the Daily Office contained in the Book of Common Prayer.
In the Episcopal Church and the Anglican tradition, we recognize that the Altar is God’s Table, not our own. Therefore, all who come seeking Christ at St. Paul’s Parish are invited to join us during Holy Eucharist to receive a blessing or the sacrament (bread and wine).
Special services (baptisms, funerals, and weddings) are held throughout the church year. Please contact our Rector for more information.
