An Episcopal chaplain serving with the Air Force in Afghanistan is asking for quilts to be made for service men and women wounded there. The following are the guidelines for the quilts.
1. 4’x6′ finished size;
2. No fringing or embellishment that could get caught on medical equipment or devices;
3. No shades of pinks or reds as primary or secondary color (i.e., there can be traces of pinks or reds in a pattern, but not the main focal color). Red is fine if you are doing a patriot or red, white and blue theme;
4. Masculine colors and prints are preferred;
5. No fluorescent or eye irritating contrasts;
6. No frilly, no lacy, no foo‐foo styled quilts, and no sparkled fabrics; and
7. Include one completely plain white square that can be signed by medical personnel giving care to the soldier.
St. Paul’s, Medina, quilters who make any quilts, please see the rector for shipment to the troops.
