St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Medina, OH will be this years host for The Great Homeless Awareness Sleepout and Fundraiser. Teenagers from across Northeast Ohio will be advocating and fundraising to support the homeless. On January 22 starting at 6:30 pm the youth will get a taste of what it feels like to be Homeless. They will be sleeping outside overnight in self-built shelters of cardboard and little to no amenities.
They will also be collecting donations that evening on the street in front of the church and on the Medina Town Square. Money raised will be given to Operation Homes, an organization of churches and community groups working together to provide shelter for homeless people. Operation Homes arranges for homeless families and individuals to sleep in host churches in Medina County, they provide transportation to outlying churches, prepare dinners and breakfasts at the host churches for program guests, connect program guests with other community organizations and is an agency of United Way.
